Bob’s Smithy Inn is a rural country Pub and Restaurant located in Bolton. The owners, Lorraine and Stewart along with their son Jordan have ran this successful business for the past 30 years.
Situated close to Rivington and the surrounding area, the views of Greater Manchester from the Pub are exceptional and is ideal for walkers and sightseeing. Only 2 miles from the Macron Stadium (home of Bolton Wanderers) its an ideal location for travelling fans.
Bobs Smithy’s name originated back to a time when there was a blacksmith living across the road. As a regular, it is believed the pub was eventually named after him. The building dates back to the early 17th century, which in time has seen a great transformation.
In 2011, the owners decided to expand their busy Pub into a Restaurant, employing a team of excellent chefs and waiting on staff to serve freshly prepared home cooked dishes. Since then, they have received an ‘Award of excellence’ annually from Trip advisor.
Known for its excellent selection of 6 traditional cask ales, you can expect to find award winning ales which are sold permanently from Bank Top (Flat Cap), Timothy Taylors (Bolt maker) and Thwaites (Wainwrights) plus 3 other guest ales constantly rotating from breweries all over the county. There is also a wide selection of Premium and Continental Lagers and a good choice of Wines and Spirits.
Visitors can enjoy excellent service throughout the year, offering a cosy atmosphere with two open log fires during those cold Winter months, and a large Beer garden for those sunny occasions during the summer. They have been in the Good Beer Guide for the last 18 years winning Summer Pub of the Season for 2011 and more recently Winter Pub of the Season 2015/2016 by CAMRA.
